This island nation’s economy is one of the top economies in the South Pacific. Though the nominal GDP per capita is lower than that of Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand, it is higher than that of some independent, non-sovereign countries and territories in Oceania. Despite its established economy, there remains income disparity and structural inequalities between residents of the South Province and those of the North Province and the Loyalty Islands.
